A Skiff & Punting Club?
Sunbury Skiff & Punting Club was founded in November 2010 around a dinner table in The Creek Lower Sunbury. There had been talk of "Sunbury should have a Rowing Club" for many many years. Sunbury needs to be on its stretch of the Thames. Time has come to build a Boat Club for this Community.
 With very little resources its not going to be easy but starting with a Skiff & Punting club seems the way forward. Skiffing & Punting are the sports that have been raced at Sunbury’s Regatta since the 1850s. There are several rowing clubs around but none are open to the public on the Middlesex side of the river. So starting a Club here in Sunbury has a real good feel factor about it. Skiffing is a traditional form of rowing that does not take over your life. Like Punting It’s a leisure sport that with a bit of work non sports people & athlete's alike can become successful & hooked on. You can compete at various levels on a friendly race circuit throughout most of the year. Training on the river for a few pounds a month and winning trophies seems such a better idea than beating yourself and your wallet up down the gym!
